Do I have to volunteer?

We look forward to you joining our Parent Service Organization (PSO) and will need your help! The PSO will organize and manage fundraisers, special events, service projects, and so much more! This group is integral in bringing parents together to support LOLA operations and families.

We require parents to be actively involved in our community by volunteering their time for 9 hours a year (1 hour a month), either in person or from home. You can choose to contribute through our Parent Service Organization, in classrooms, or in any other capacity that suits your interests and skills. Sign-ups will be available, and we encourage you to register in advance whenever possible. We value and appreciate any special talents or gifts you are willing to share with us. Together we can create a vibrant and engaging learning environment for our children.

Parents that are unable to fulfill their commitment can Opt Out of their volunteer requirement by paying the applicable fee. Fee is $40/month or $360/year added to your tuition. This fee allows us to hire help in the areas we would have used a volunteer.

Do you have a Statement of Faith that explains how you approach Christian teaching?

Lavender Oaks Learning Academy holds a fundamentally Christian Faith theology. We believe in God, the Eternal Father; in his son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Spirit. We strive to foster an inclusive environment where students of all faiths are welcomed and encouraged to embrace a spirit of collegiality. Emulating the values exemplified by Jesus Christ, we promote respectful interactions and understanding among students from diverse religious backgrounds. We leave denominational differences to be determined in the home.

Examples of denominational differences may include: Church government authority, Timing of future events, Time and mode of baptism, Security of the believer and Gifts of the Spirit. This does not mean we avoid these topics with older students. We may refer to stories and parables found in the Bible, to reinforce the Christian values we are focusing on. In the event a topic comes up, teachers are instructed to emphasize the beauty of living in a country with religious freedoms, and encourage students to talk with their parents. Leaving final judgment to the student and family.
